WEEK 16 LOS PEEKUPS – WAIVER WIRE – HOLIDAY SHOPPING FOR THE FANTASY FOOTBALL SEMIS

If you’re reading this, it means you survived. Salud! Raise a glass to survival and a little bit of suerte. If you were really lucky you had a bye and didn’t have to deal with the week that’s still not over as of this writing. Ready to do it two more times? That’s what it’s going to take, though hopefully it won’t be the crucible that was Week 15.

Ronald Jones has the chance to be a league winner, with the heavy load of the Tampa carries there for him with Leonard Fournette going on IR. Add to it he’s running behind one of the best O-lines in the NFL. Use your FAAB or waiver priority to get him!

It being Christmas week, of course it’s getting extra hectic to find time to write and record content for our Familia community. Pero aqui estamos. We’re ready. It’s more skeleton crew that we’re putting out there, because it’s not the time for future plays. You’re talking about this week and next. Eso es todo. No time for stashes for players who could blow up later.

So for now, let’s unwrap these players on the waiver wire to either plug them into your lineups or to put them on your bench so that your opponent doesn’t use them against you. Strategy, Familia!

Here are the waiver wire recommendations that will hopefully help you move on. As always, the players are rostered in no more than 50% of Yahoo leagues. Salud!

STREAMING QUARTERBACKS OF THE WEEK

JUSTIN FIELDS @ SEA
26%
After going for 285 passing and 35 rushing yards, we’re seeing plenty of Konami Code developing with Fields. Seattle has given up 292 or more passing yards to 4 of last 5 QBs.

TYLER HUNTLEY @ CIN
5%
The Week 15 QB1, just like we said it would happen. With 4 total TDs, 215 passing and 73 rushing yards, Huntley did a good imitation of Lamar Jackson. If the 2019 MVP can’t go this week, Huntley jumps in against the Bengals, who saw Jackson throw for 257 yards and run for 88 more in Week 7.

RUNNING BACK

RONALD JONES @ CAR
36%

Leonard Fournette’s hamstring injury has opened the door for RoJo to be el hombre when it’s the muy importante fantasy playoffs. With 10 touches last week, he had only one other time this season when he hit that mark (Week 7). Devin Singletary rushed 22 times for 86 yards and a score last week against the Panthers, which came on the heels of Mike Davis and Cordarrelle Patterson combining for 144 total yards.

CRAIG REYNOLDS @ ATL
13%

Speculation Play #1: After totaling 216 all-purpose yards in his first 2 games of the season, Reynolds filled in well in the absence of D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams. Neither has been slated to be activated as of now, so Reynolds could be a flex play against an Atlanta defense that’s allowing 130.5 all-purpose yards since Week 10.

SAMAJE PERINE vs BAL
13%

Speculation Play #2: Joe Mixon suffered an ankle injury toward the end of his Week 15 game, so grabbing Perine is a smart play even if you’re just keeping him from starting for your opponent. Mixon has averaged 23.8 touches per game since the Week 10 bye, so Perine would inherit that role. Keep in mind that Baltimore is allowing 63.5 rushing yards to the RB since Week 10.

JUSTIN JACKSON @ HOU
6%

Speculation Play #3: The last one. Jackson got 14 touches to Joshua Kelley’s 7 in the Thursday night shootout with the Chiefs. Ekeler still may be slowed by an ankle injury, and if he sits Jackson would get the most work, likely. The Texans are giving up 160.6 total yards to RBs on average.

WIDE RECEIVER/TIGHT END

AMON-RA ST. BROWN @ ATL
30%

With 26 catches on 35 targets, St. Brown has emerged as the alpha for the Lions. There’s no T.J. Hockenson to steal any looks, so the rookie is facing the #31 defense against the WR. They’re giving up an average of 41.7 Fantasy PPG to the WR position.

RUSSELL GAGE vs DET
50%
He has 11, 6 and 12 targets the last 3 games, and Calvin Ridley is not coming back this week. The Lions are allowing 261.2 passing yards a game, and Gage is not losing any targets to Kyle Pitts or Patterson.

ALLEN LAZARD vs CLE
9%
This was originally going to be Marquez Valdes-Scantling, but he went on the COVID-IR today and so we’ll pivot to Lazard. His targets have been about the same with MVS (12-11, advantage MVS last 2 games), so if he gets some of that share it

GABRIEL DAVIS @ NE
19%

Davis had his 5-7-85-2 line that could be the makings of a 2nd-year breakout. Cole Beasley is likely out and no word on if Emmanuel Sanders is going to be back this week. Davis is speedy and rangy, and will draw some looks with Stefon Diggs likely getting the primary attention of the Patriot secondary.

COLE KMET @ SEA
25%

Are you all tired of me recommending Kmet? Well, there’s not much longer in the season, and if he replicates the 6-9-71-0 line from Monday Night Football in the fantasy semis against the Seahawks, he’ll probably stay in lineups for teams that may be on edge with Travis Kelce on the COVID list.

DEFENSIVE STREAMER OF THE WEEK
BENGALS vs BAL
15%

A rostership in the teens is low for a unit that has 17 sacks and 9 turnovers since its Week 10 bye. The Bengals had 5 sacks and held the Ravens to 17 points in Week 7.
