Now that we’ve got 5 games in, we have a good enough sample size. We know that Aaron Rodgers is much better than many had him projected to be. There’s some question about whether Lamar Jackson was worth the high draft pick. Cam Newton is fairly clearly the best value pick among the QBs.
This will be a very interesting week for those who are playing the streaming game or are platooning a couple QBs. With knowing what QBs are doing well, the top defenses have really shown themselves. Same for those that need to be targeted (ahem, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Seattle, Dallas).
So to keep this intro from getting too long, here is Adentro y Afuera for the QBs in Week 6:
ADENTRO
MATTHEW STAFFORD @ JAX
The Jags are giving up 21.1 points Fantasy PPG to the QB position, and Stafford is coming off a bye week. He’s also got Kenny Golladay presumably at 100% for the first time all season. Stafford has only been OK thus far, as the QB18 in Fantasy PPG. He has yet to throw for 300 yards in a game this season. The bet here is that he easily surpasses 300 yards in a game that has shootout potential, as the Lions are giving up 20.3 Fantasy PPG to QBs thus far.
MATT RYAN @ MIN
You had me at, Julio Jones, ACTIVE. It’s clear that Mateo Hielo is just a different QB when Jones is on the field. Now hopefully Jones is his usual self alongside Calvin Ridley so that Ryan can pick apart a Viking secondary that has given up 1416 yards, 6th most in the league. And the Falcons are #2 in giving up 1728 yards and a league-leading 15 passing TDs. Yes, this game has shootout written all over it.
CAM NEWTON vs. DEN
Newton is healthy and off the COVID-19 IR, so be ready to fire him up against a Bronco D that has been decimated by injuries. Denver is tied with Washington in giving up 21.4 Fantasy PPG, 6th in the league. Newton is averaging 24.5 Fantasy PPG in his 3 games (he sat out a game when he tested positive). This could be a great all-around game for Superman, as he’ll likely make plenty of plays with his legs.
Automatic plays with good matchups: Kyler Murray (@DAL), Lamar Jackson (@ PHI), Deshaun Watson (@TEN), Kirk Cousins (vs. ATL).
Others to keep Adentro: Ryan Tannehill (vs HOU), Ben Roethlisberger (vs. CLE), Jared Goff (@ SF).
AFUERA
SIT OF THE WEEK
TEDDY BRIDGEWATER vs. CHI
The Teddy B feel-good story has been very good, especially for those who streamed him or played him in DFS the past couple weeks. The Chicago D has been one of the most stingy against the QB, allowing just 12.1 FPPG (just behind Indy), and only 4 TD passes. This will be a hard week for Bridgewater.
JOE BURROW @ IND
Burrow was taken down a notch against Baltimore’s top defense on the road. He gets another great secondary on the road in the Colts, who are allowing the fewest Fantasy PPG to QBs at 10.7. The rookie growing pains will continue in this game, and I’ll keep banging the drum that the Bengals need to upgrade that O-line to keep the kid healthy.
CARSON WENTZ vs. BAL
The Ravens are 5th in the NFL with 16 sacks, which does not bode well for Wentz. He’s been running for his life most weeks behind an O-line that was expected to be one of the best before injuries made it one of the worst. Wentz still has limited receiving options, even with the emergency of Travis Fulgham. Zach Ertz has been a non-factor the past couple weeks.
Others to keep Afuera: Philip Rivers (vs. CIN), Nick Foles (@ CAR).
