LOS PEEKUPS WEEK 7, THE WEEK AFTER

What do you do after you’ve spent all your FAAB or your waiver priority on Kenneth Walker or one of the other players I recommended last week? Yes, I’m rubbing my whiskers, too. Well, that’s where we are, and this is going to give you a quick rundown of players I recommend picking up with their matchup for the upcoming week.

George Pickens will benefit from more downfield passes from fellow rookie Kenny Pickett as Pittsburgh tries to energize its offense. Pickens is one of the top picks on the waiver wire this week.

It’s getting pretty clear that as long as you drafted Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes, you’re probably close to the top of your standings. But even if you didn’t, there’s no giving up. Keep playing hard and hope your QBs can match up with that Big 4 when the time comes. Watch the matchups, the weather, the bye weeks – Yes, Allen and Hurts are sitting out this week. Just get into the playoffs, because that’s a whole new season. Ask the Dodgers about that.

Let’s do this. As always, here are players who are 50% or less rostered in Yahoo leagues. Vamonos!

QUARTERBACK
JARED GOFF (55%) @ DAL
OK, so I’m cheating a little. I was going to put Justin Fields in here, because I liked what I’d seen the past couple weeks. But I looked at his upcoming schedule and saw tough road games in New England, Dallas, Atlanta (ask the 49ers) and the Jets. Then home dates with the Bills and Eagles. So I’m upping the roster % a little to get Goff in here, and he’s the QB7 in FPG with 19.7. He should get main cogs Amon-Ra St. Brown and D’Andre Swift back this week, and it’ll be necessary with a ferocious Dallas D that’s kept 4 of 6 QBs under 200 passing yards.

RUNNING BACK
LATAVIUS MURRAY (27%) vs NYJ
I’m sincerely apologizing to the person on Discord I told to fade before Murray went for 15-66-0 on MNF. No one saw this coming. If you say you did, I won’t believe you. Mentiroso! I watched that game in disbelief. Melvin Gordon was a question mark because of injury beforehand, so leaning on Murray was probably the coaching staff seeing something in Gordon that made them go toward the veteran Murray. Mike Boone got just a single carry. The Jets are #16 in FPG allowed to RB, though they did give up 113 rushing yards to Raheem Mostert in Week 5. It’s a home game, so that could be a boost to Murray.

GUS EDWARDS (15%) vs CLE
KYREN WILLIAMS (8%) BYE
These are more speculation plays, as both are still on IR, and I don’t recommend starting them immediately once they’re healthy. Repeat after me: I CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH RB DEPTH. OK, now that we have your attention, if you have an IR spot, I recommend grabbing these guys. Just in case. Injuries happen, and both could have roles in the most important weeks of the fantasy season.

KENYAN DRAKE (6%) vs CLE
Drake actually looked pretty good in running 10 times for 119 yards and a TD against the Giants. He’s actually healthy, Edwards is on IR and J.K. Dobbins felt his surgically repaired knee tighten up on him. Best ability is availability for Drake.

WIDE RECEIVER
RONDALE MOORE (46%) vs NO
Finally healthy, Moore led the Cardinals in routes run with 46 last week. With Marquise Brown going to miss some time, and DeAndre Hopkins just coming back from suspension, there might be a window for Moore to get plenty of work in the slot. The Saints are banged up in the secondary, so this is a spot for him to do well. Though keep in mind that this Arizona offense has not looked good thus far, and Kyler Murray has been running for his life.

MICHAEL GALLUP (50%) vs DET
With Dak Prescott coming back, even if he’s not 100% at the start, Gallup is a guy you want to have on your team. He ran just 17 routes in the Cowboys’ last game, a win over the Rams. That was still second on the team after CeeDee Lamb’s 19. Yes, this is not 1977. Detroit has allowed a league-leading 170 points this season. What’s more amazing is that the Lions have already had their bye, unlike most teams. Lamb is #1 in Big D, but Gallup will be #2.

CHASE CLAYPOOL (42%) @ MIA
The 16 targets that Claypool has seen the past couple weeks may just be as a result of Pat Freiermuth missing part of one game and all of the next. And Kenny Pickett may miss this week. Still, the Steeler D is uncharacteristically mediocre, allowing nearly 25 points a game, so this game could see some back and forth. That could open things up for Claypool.

ALEC PIERCE (39%) @ TEN
Zak Keefer of The Athletic told me preseason that Pierce was receiving a master-level education from former DPOY Stephon Gilmore during training camp. It’s paying off, as the rookie has 16 targets in the past couple games. He went for 3-49-1 last week, and now faces the Titans, who have allowed the last 4 QBs to throw for more than 300 yards. That includes Pierce’s teammate, Matt Ryan. Pierce at least is a good stash.

JAMESON WILLIAMS (32%) @ DAL
Now coming off the bye week, Williams is a speculative stash for leagues with IR spots. The way rookie WRs have been doing this year, it’s good to grab another if you can hide him for a couple weeks until he’s activated.

TIGHT END
ROBERT TONYAN (43%) @ WAS
Running 37 routes and catching 10 of 12 targets for 90 yards, Tonyan appears to be back in more ways than one for the Packers. Keep in mind that he’s within that mythical “trust tree” that people keep talking about with Aaron Rodgers. This is more ROS rather than a surprisingly tough matchup against the Commanders, who are #4 in allowing 5.5 FPG to the TE position.

GREG DULCICH (2%) vs NYJ
Between the 27 routes run in MNF – #3 on the team – and Albert O. being a healthy scratch, there could be some real usage ahead for Dulcich beyond the 2-44-1 on 3 targets last night. Troy Renck of Denver 7 could not stop raving about Dulcich in training camp, before the rookie from UCLA got hurt. With the TE position in such shambles… where have we heard this before?

MIKE GESICKI (25%) vs PIT
Just when he ran routes (42) that were just behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and then catches 6 of 7 targets for 69 yards and a pair of TDs, it looks like Gesicki could be on the move. At least that’s what ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is reporting: that the Dolphins are listening to offers on Gesicki. While it takes two to tango, listening to offers is far from packing his bags. Still, if he’s on the move that could mean more looks coming his way with a new team, so this is another speculative pickup.
