TOP ROOKIE RB LANDING SPOTS FROM NFL DRAFT
The NFL Draft is in the rear-view mirror. Now what? What comes next may be just as much fun, if not more, than the buildup to the NFL’s version of a Tijuana Swap Meet.
Continue ReadingIt really was just nine days ago that we woke up with Tom Brady still retired, Deshaun Watson’s future still uncertain and a couple other signal callers not exactly making plans to call a mover.
Continue ReadingThis one is for Nolan Cromwell. Don’t remember him? That’s OK. He was an option Qb at Kansas who converted and played free safety for the Los Angeles Rams from 1977-87, and even made the Pro Bowl four times.
Continue ReadingI remember the ending of the original Rocky. It was at the culmination of 15 grueling rounds that was inspired by the near-death experience that was Ali-Frazier III, aka the Thrilla in Manila. Sorry, I just realized I referenced that last week. But at the end of the movie’s epic battle, Apollo Creed, his ribs broken, but his spirit barely intact, yelled into Rocky’s ear, “Ain’t gonna be no rematch.” Rocky said he didn’t want one. Well, for the NFL Championship round of the playoffs, just one step from the Super Bowl, we get not just one, but two rematches.
Continue ReadingAbout 20 years ago, I read Peter King’s recap of the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs in Sports Illustrated. He called it the greatest weekend of football all year. I hadn’t thought of it at the time, because I was focused on the games, but he was 100% right.

Continue ReadingFamilia, if you don’t have a championship to play for this week, we have you covered. DFS is how we’re going to rearrange our content from now through the Super Bowl. We’ll focus on players who are both expensive and primed to break the slate, as well as those value plays who can help you get those important points at the end of your roster.
Continue ReadingThe irony of starting this column with a tribute after the passing of the legendary John Madden is that the ethos of the old Oakland Raiders was “Just Win, Baby.” Still is in the Las Vegas incarnation, but I very much identify those words with Al Davis and Madden. Because for all the Miller Lite commercials, hundreds of national NFL broadcasts and millions of video games bearing his name, John Madden was first and foremost a football coach.
Continue ReadingFamilia, if you’re reading this, felicidades! You’re in the title game. Salud, pat yourself on the back, but your work is not done. Time to finish the job. There are still players to pick up to either add depth with COVID still running rampant through the NFL, to plug into your lineup or to block your opponent from using them against you. This is no time to let up. You only get so many chances at a title!
